My dad went into the hospital about 12 years ago over a stage 4 ulcer that exploded in his stomach. He was given a paralytic drug without consent from any family member and it cause him to code on the table for 4 minutes. He now has brain damage. I want my kids to have some memories with him like I had. My dad was and is my life but his health is getting worse. I have three kids ages 12,11,&9 that haven't been able to really get to meet the man that made me who I am today. He lives in Florida, which is a 12 hour drive from Kentucky where we live. It wouldn't be such an issue to many the trip if I had a dependable car. I make a living taking care of people as a direct support provider through a comprehensive behavioral center. I have to stay the night at my clients house and am usually gone from home 6 days out of the week just to make ends meet. I can't afford to miss much work. I really want to be able to give my kids this opportunity. I believe they deserve to meet their grandpa. He is such a wonderful man and I know if he was well enough he would teach my boys how to fish, shoot a gun, and play sports. He would treat my daughter like the princess she is. The doctors have found another leak in his heart but they say it can't be repaired. He's getting weaker and weaker as the days go on. I don't want to wait until it's too late for them to meet him and make some wonderful memories. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and God Bless!
