For those who know me well, running has been an off and on part of my routine since my friends convinced me to run cross country in high school. Always been a goal to run a marathon, and I finally decided - what is holding me back?
New York is great for many reasons, but a heartbreaking reality is how much hardship and poverty is experienced here. I see people without homes everyday - in parks, on the subway, on the streets. Not able to help each individual, I want to do my part & raise funds for an organization who is better equiped to provide them what they need. I'm so excited to be running the NYC marathon for a great cause - Covenant House.
It is the largest privately funded agency in the Americas prodiding shelter, food, and immediate crisis care to homeless and runaway youth. Beyond a shelter - Covenant House offers training programs, healthcare, education, GED prep, jobs and skills training, drug abuse treatment/prevention, mental health services and additional service. They hope to break the cycle of homelessness and bridge the gap of support in the lives of youth - a wide range of deep-seated psychological, physcial, and economic reasons for youth homelessness.
Please consider supporting me in my efforts to fundraise $3,000, of which 100% will go directly to Covenant House for youth around the country. Thank you SO much for your support.
