"THERE'S NO BASEMENT IN THE ALAMO!" is one of many great quotes (said by the late, great Jan Hooks) in the bike-themed movie that inspired our name, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. In the movie, Pee-Wee road trips America to retrieve what he loves most in life, his bike, and throughout his travels, meets people that help him on his mission.
His passion, determination, friendliness and love of his bike will inspire the Pee-Wees to raise money that will support better biking for children and families in Boston metro. Specifically, we want the Cities of Cambridge, Boston, Brookline and Somerville to install a network of protected bike lanes so that people, 8-80, can ride a bike to school, play and work.
FAMILY RIDE. Head Pee-Wee, Megan Ramey, is a board member of LivableStreets and in charge of organizing and leading the family ride for Tour de Streets, Saturday, Septemeber 10th, 2016. She can't wait to curate a chill, 3-5 mile route, that's safe for babies of all ages on their parents or their own bikes!
ABOUT TOUR DE STREETS. Tour de Streets an annual family-friendly event that supports LivableStreets Alliance. Choose between an urban bike ride, a kid-friendly route and a walk highlighting the Emerald Network. Then celebrate with a BBQ lunch, music and games.
ABOUT LIVABLESTREETS. For more than a decade LivableStreets has been rethinking urban transportation in Metro Boston. We believe streets should be designed to accommodate all people and provide safe, convenient, and affordable transportation options-- making our community more connected and livable for everyone.
