BENEFITING: Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi
EVENT DATE: Oct 02, 2016
Three years ago as we sat in the hospital overwhelmed by the news that Megan had been diagnosed with Type One Diabetes and the long term care it would require, two ladies walked into the room to reassure us that we were not alone and that Megan would live a normal life. It was the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi there to provide materials, information and supplies for the new diagnosis. Each month, the DFM provides encouragement to Megan to live a normal, healthy life. Through Kamp Kandu, Megan gets to meet other kids who have been diagnosed with T-1. She plays, learns, and most importantly escapes into a world where everyone else shares her fight. Kamp Kandu provides us training and education on how to better manage Megan's health. Through the DFM we have found a family of parents and children who support and care for each other. In the DFM we have been given emergency supplies and insulin. We are asking you to be a Hero for Megan and the thousands of other T-1 diabetics in Mississippi, by supporting Megan's team for the 2016 DFM Walk for Diabetes. 100% of what you donate stays here in Mississippi to help children just like our daughter live a normal and healthy life. Each donation provides a Kamp experience for a family or supplies for a child. While life with Diabetes has not been easy, the support of the DFM to our family has meant the world and empowered Megan to run cross country. Megan does not see Diabetes as an obstacle. The DFM has helped Megan grow and become a leader in support of other kids. Please help Megan, help other kids. Will you donate and Be Someone's Hero? #besomeoneshero2016 The Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi will host seven walks in the fall all around the state of Mississippi! Money raised from these walks helps to fund what we do everyday! Our school programs, kids backpacks, diabetes dog grants, and medical supplies are made possible through one of our favorite fundraisers! While most may refer to the fall as football season, we like to think of it as walk season!
