Megan's Guatemala Trip
Organized by: Megan Shultz
In February I will be going to Guatemala with 14 other Jefferson students. We will be volunteering with the Hearts in Motion organization to deliver medical services to children and families in a remote part of Guatemala. Hearts in Motion has been sending groups to Guatemala since 2002. When the program first started the volunteers were providing services from a park bench at the public health department. In 2004 they were able to build and establish a physical therapy clinic with a full time physical therapist. The organization continued to grow and in 2012 they opened their second clinic. The services are provided to the patients 100% free of charge. They rely heavily on volunteers helping to deliver services to the patients. I am very excited about the opportunity to volunteer in Guatemala, but there is a significant cost associated with it. I am hoping to raise $2100. This will cover food, housing, and flight. Any amount you can donate helps, no donation is too small. I appreciate all of your support.
