To my beloved friends and family, Do you remember last year when you helped me raise $2500 to buy a new engine for the school bus at the preschool I was working at in Myanmar?! Well here I am again and I need a little more help! After a long but successful year getting my Master's degree in Human Rights Development here in London, I'm heading off into the crazy unknown AGAIN :). Here's the scoop; I've been placed in an ambassadorship in Kathmandu, Nepal for two months. I'll be gone from Mid-April to Mid-June for a charity called Street Child. It's an NGO based out of London that focuses on creating maximum impact on the hundreds of children who live on the streets of Nepal. We will be working directly with street children in their own environment with the goals of reunification with their families, reintroduction to education, and the creation of a sustainable home life for their ongoing upbringing. Here is #1 lesson that I learned during this Human Rights degree... Charities are all about fundraising. And people who care. Without private donors (and grants), none of this Human Rights work would get done and the people who need it most, wouldn't get any help. And, here's my big favour :)... I need some help reaching my $1,500 fundraising goal for Street Child. I have to raise these funds as part of my placement to be able to go to Kathmandu to help these kids. SO. I would be forever grateful if you would consider helping Street Child by donating to this project... whatever amount you can swing would mean so much! Thanks a billion, from me and everyone at Street Child :). ps. Blondevoyage (my travel blog) will be starting up again! Look for post updates and let me know if you'd like to be on the mailing list :) Meg xo
