I want to thank all of you, …
I want to thank all of you, my generous donors, for supporting me and the Alzheimer's Association in such an amazing way over the past 5 plus months. Together you all have contributed over $20,000 to support the MA/NH Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association improving the lives of individuals with Alzheimer's and their families and helping to fund cutting edge research needed to end this disease once and for all.

I survived Patriots Day 2016 and completed the Boston Marathon in a grueling 4 hours and 53 minutes. The heat, some nagging injuries and a viral illness likely all conspired to make me experience this race as the toughest one of my life by far! Although this time was actually an hour slower than my usual pace in Boston, I was buoyed by my family, all of you and especially my daughter, Sasha, who ran miles 8-10 in Natick with me and up Heartbreak Hill through Miles 20 and 21 while I was depleted in every way possible and experiencing leg cramps. I kept thinking of why I was running, my teammate Phillip Posa age 45 who suffers from dementia and the important work that so many are doing to realize our vision of a world without dementia. So on I went down Beacon Street, through Kenmore Square and eventually made my way slowly and nearly alone down Boylston street to cheering throngs of incredible spectators.

Thanks again for all of your kind words, support and encouragement along the way. It was so great to see many of you last Monday cheering on so many runners.

Best wishes to all and I look forward to another opportunity to connect in the near future,

Stuff About Me:

Dear Family and Friends,

In Boston the spring thaw has begun!   Throughout this very long snowywinter, I have been training for my 4th Boston marathon.  With just 4 weeks to go it's time to ask for your support in raising funds for the Brigham and Women’s NICU.

As many of you know our son Evan blasted into this world prematurely at 27 weeks and the NICU became our home for 3 1/2 months.  We were thrust into parenting in the NICU environmentwhere lights, beeps, monitors, intubations and life threatening situationsare the norm with no privacy and no quiet blissful nights of snuggling with the  newborn.  Eleven years have gone since our upclose encounter in this environment and the BWH NICU is no longer a state of the art facility; your help can change that situation.

Today we know more about what helps preemies and their families get through a difficult start. In the new NICU – there will be quiet space for families to be with their baby's.  It tore my heart to leave Evan each day because there was no room for parents to sleep over.  They use to say preemie development was mostly about physical growth and catching up.  Today we know more about the emotional attachment and how critical it is for preemies to be held and touched to feel safe .  Your support will create this and so much more for preemies and their family whose home is the BWH NICU.

Running for the BWH NICU renews my faith and calms my soul that preemie's catching  up happens in many ways.  Please donate large or small – help create a NICU home that makes a lifelong difference in so many lives.

Thank you !

With loving gratefulness,  Meg
