I will be joining a team of 150 strong on May 20th for the Annual Bay to Breakers race and partnering with the 104 Girls of Daraja in Kenya to raise money to support the new class of 2012. I am convinced that these girls will change lives -- their own as well as those of their communities and their country. I will be partnering with a wonderful girl named Mercy.
Please consider making a contribution to support these wonderful girls -- your gift will provide access to education for an exceptional and promising young woman who has no other way to get it...join us and make a difference to someone special! PLEASE Check out our video and see what makes Daraja so special!
Mercy is from a town just outside of Nairobi, Kenya's capital city. Students have to pay for tuition, as well as school supplies and uniforms and her family could not afford it. The drop rate from elementary school to high school is 80%. Mercy's life path was set to make her another statistic. Despite this, Mercy never stopped trying in school and she was one of the top performers in her class.
Mercy eventually received a four year scholarship from Daraja Academy...a twist in her fate that will not only change the course of her future, but that of her siblings and future children. She has really found her passion in Media club, the club on campus that focuses on journalism! She lights up and takes the lead in this club.
Thank you! Educated Girls will Change the World!
