Nearly 2.5 million American men and women have deployed in support of combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan since 2001. Over the next five years, more than 1 million service members will retire or separate from active duty—a significantly higher rate than our nation has seen over the past decade. It’s estimated that 18.5% of Afghanistan and Iraq veterans experience the symptoms of depression and/ or Post Traumatic Stress (PTS)1, 19.5% experienced a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)1 while in service.
