BENEFITING: MELANOMA EDUCATION FOUNDATION INC
EVENT DATE: Nov 02, 2014
I will be running the New York City Marathon with my wife, Amy, for the Melanoma Education Foundation (MEF). For those of you who don’t know, Melanoma is a common skin cancer that is easily detected and treatable. However, if left undetected it is often deadly. As parents of young children we're sensitive to the need for timely and effective education and to spread awareness about risks and preventative measures relating to Melanoma. MEF's primary mission is visiting middle and high school student’s nationwide providing lessons and educational materials to raise awareness about Melanoma prevention.
Our run is dedicated to the memory of those who have lost their lives to Melanoma, particularly, Jack Spencer, who lost his short battle within 5 months of diagnosis. Donating through the website is simple, fast, and totally secure. There is absolutely no obligation to donate, but I hope this message serves as a reminder to protect your skin and educate yourself about the increasing risks of Melanoma.
