BENEFITING: MELANOMA EDUCATION FOUNDATION INC
ORGANIZER: MELANOMA EDUCATION FOUNDATION INC
I have always been an avid runner and have dreamed of one day running a marathon. Ideally I always wanted to do my first 26.2 somewhere historic and iconic. The New York City Marathon was always at the top of that list. In December of 2012 I was diagnosed with Stage III Malignant Melanoma. I endured multiple surgeries, constant scans, tests, and worry, and a 2 year long Immunotherapy drug trial. I have been considered "no evidence of disease" for the past 3 years. I've fought hard, and will continue to keep fighting as long as I can. Prior to my diagnosis I knew very little about Melanoma, or skin cancer, in general. Now that I know how deadly it can be, and the effect it can have on not only the Melanoma patient but their family and loved ones as well, I want to do as much as I can to help educate everyone about it's ramifications. The Melanoma Education Foundation is providing me an amazing opportunity by sponsoring me to run in the 2017 NYC Marathon! I want to raise as much money and awareness as possible for this amazing foundation! I'll be updating my progress throughout this journey on Facebook, Instagram, and my blog. More details to come soon about fundraising events and my training. Stay tuned!
