Hello Friends & Family,
As some of you may know, I have the good fortune of working for a GREAT organization called SMART. We work with low-income kids in San Francisco, most of whom will be first generation college students. We recruit our students in the fourth grade and provide sustained personal attention and comprehensive academic, social, and emotional support through high school graduation. Our goal? We'd like to see 100% of our Scholars graduate from high school and attend the four year college of thier choice equipped with the skills and confidence to succeed. Our students are awarded scholarships to some of San Francisco's most amazing private schools, and to ensure they succeed, SMART provides after school and summer programming, tutoring, mentoring, college access support, and so much more.
This holiday season, I am working with our Volunteer Advisory Board on a challenge to all of SMART's volunteers. In addition to the amazing, life-altering volunteer work that they do tutoring and mentoring our scholars...we're asking them to help SMART raise $15,000 over the holidays! These funds will help us sustain and grow our programming so that we can serve increasing numbers of students each year. Yeah, our volunteers are awesome.
As you know it's the holiday season, and it's also almost my birthday (hint, hint)! Not sure what to get for the girl who has it all (yes, this is me we're talking about)? How about a gift to my favorite nonprofit organization? Your donation is guaranteed to change a life and I would really appreciate your support. Plus, it makes shopping super easy. :)
To kick things off, I'm making the first donation toward my personal goal of raising $1,000. I hope you'll join me--a donation in any amount will be appreciated. If you're not able to make a contribution at this time... that's ok too. You can still help by sharing this with your own friends and families, or, if you live here in San Francisco and are interested in working one-on-one with a child as a tutor or mentor, give me a shout. I'd be happy to provide you with more information.
Thanks so much for reading this, and thanks in advance for your support.
