EVENT DATE: Mar 10, 2013
This year I will be realizing a lifelong dream by celebrating my birthday in Ireland. What could make this an even better birthday? Using my birthday to give back to a cause I care very deeply about!!
I have registered to skydive on my birthday. The Irish Aviation Authority has an amazing program where divers can jump for a charity. For 600 EUR ($800), my charity of choice will receive all sponsorship donations minus the basic fee (which I will pay). I have chosen to jump for UNICEF Ireland.
UNICEF provides long-term humanitarian assistance to children in developing countries and is fully dependent on voluntary donations. UNICEF Ireland is the national committee focused on the current crisis in Syria. Children in conflict zones are in increased risk of being orphaned, displaced, injured, and trafficked. Syrian children are also struggling to survive the region's coldest winter in a decade. UNICEF Ireland is campaigning to meet their needs.
Because 1) March weather in Ireland is unpredictable; and 2) UNICEF Ireland raises funds in euros, I will be using this page to fundraise personally. If you would like to sponsor me, please pledge your UNICEF Ireland donation and I will collect in person or via PayPal so that your donation is fee-less (I will cover conversion costs). If the flight/jump is canceled the day of, I will reimburse your donation or continue the donation on your behalf - your choice. To keep from donation fees, I'll be fundraising offline and posting updates on this page - send me a message if you'd like to sponsor me!!
NOTE: Crowdrise does not collect donations for international charities - I have spoken with their admin who suggested creating this page as a personal fundraising effort and managing it myself. I believe in so much of UNICEF's work worldwide!! For this occasion, however, I have chosen to fundraise for UNICEF's Irish National Committee rather than the UNICEF United States Fund only because I believe in giving back to the country in which I will be a visitor.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
