It is hard to imagine but for just a moment imagine your doctor telling you "your son has autism."
What would be your next action? Of course, you would want to know what can be done to help your child. The doctors may make recommendations or provide you with information and you may do your own research about the best forms of treatment or therapies but from that point on your life as parents will never be the same. Most parents would want to provide any available treatment that could help lessen the effects that autism may have on their child's life. Unfortunately, most insurance plans do not make any attempt to cover autism or the therapies that could be the most successful treatments.
This 5K walk is sponsored by C.A.D.E. which stands for Children with Autism Deserve Education. Walking today will help raise awareness of autism and also will assist in supporting families whose lives have been forever affected by the words, "your child has autism". I walk to support my cousin, Breslin.
Our efforts today can hopefully change the lives of many so children with autism and their parents can think about school lunches or dance lessons and not therapy or doctors. Please help support this cause with me, together we can make a difference!
