We as Americans have freedom because of men and women serving our country in the military. These men and women sacrifice time with their families, their health, and sadly sometimes their life. When they come home, they may not come home the way they left. Some need mental health services, some need physical therapy for a time, and some need services for the rest of their life. Their family life may be forever altered and different. I personally know many of my friends who have served now suffer with PTSD. I'm running this half marathon for those who can't. I'm running to raise awareness and funds to help support those who need the services of wounded warrior project. Wounded warrior assists those veterans who need help moving on with their lives. In addition to the physical wounds, it is estimated as many as 400,000 service members live with the invisible wounds of war including combat-related stress, major depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Another 320,000 are believed to have experienced a traumatic brain injury while on deployment. This program offers family support, peer support, independence empowerment, combat stress recovery, physical health and wellness, a transition training academy, Warriors to work program, etc. I feel that it is important to do something good for those who have done so much and asked so little. Please help me reach my fundraising goal so those who have been injured can have the help they so desperately need and deserve.
