Yikes! My first amateur fight!
I'm so excited to have the opportunity to participate in this fundraiser and have the privilege of training at Gleason’s Gym with Devon Cormack and Heather Hardy, the “Dream Team".
It was my lifelong love of art that originally brought me to Dumbo where, to my surprise, I stumbled upon Gleason’s Gym open as a gallery during an annual festival.
The first person I met was the owner, Bruce Silverglade, whose wife happens to be an incredible artist. He invited me to come back on a regular day to see the gym in full swing and I was hooked!
Now, after many years of working out for fun and fitness alongside many of the amateurs and pros that train here, it’s my turn to “put up or shut up”!
The sweet science seriously deserves respect and I have faith that Devon & Heather will get me up to speed and “show me the ropes” because after getting into training I can see it's going to be no simple task.
But I have to know what it feels like to get in the ring and fight, for real, at least once. It’s truly a win-win situation because in victory or defeat I still get to fight for 4 different charities that I wholeheartedly support!
At Gleason’s, the motto is “hit and don't get hit”.
Sounds simple right?
Well all I can say is, it’s easier said than done.
Wish me luck!
Make sure to save the date and come out to Gleason’s Gym for fight night on November 16th and support these wonderful charities by donating!
Last, and most certainly not least, I will be dedicating my fight to my Mom & Dad, who were both artists as well…RIP.
