Dear Family, Friends and Colleagues,
As my thirty first birthday approaches (on April 18th), I started thinking about the best way to celebrate living three plus meaningful decades. As it turns out, I have a lot to celebrate; I am blessed with unconditional love from my family, caring friends, a devoted husband that I cherish, and a career that makes my heart full every day. As you may know, for the past five years, I have been working with seniors and family caregivers that often times experience the emotional and physical pain that goes hand-in-hand with Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias. For my 31st birthday, I wanted to see what would happen if I channeled all of my resources to make a huge impact on the issue that matters most to me.
It all started last summer. I had the opportunity to attend the World Domination Summit in Portland, Oregon. One of my favorite memories of this experience was hearing Scott Harrison, the founder of Charity Water, speak about giving up your birthday for a cause greater than yourself. As I sat in the Newmark Theatre with 1,000 people who are committed to living a remarkable life, I knew on my 31st birthday, I would raise my voice for a cause near and dear to my heart and right here in Pinellas County.
This disease doesn’t matter who you are. This was made very clear to me recently, when an A-list actress called our office for home health care services for her mother who was suffering from memory loss. Meeting this amazingly beautiful and accomplished celebrity, and seeing her interact with her mother, will always be one of the most humbling experiences of my life. We are all just people who need other people.
So friends, family, and colleagues, if you were to celebrate my birthday with me, you perhaps would buy me a drink, share a meal with me, or even buy me a gift. This year, instead of celebrating my birthday, I’m doing something way more fun. I am asking that you help me raise $350 in just 7 short days! A donation of $31, a dollar to represent each year of my life will help me reach my goal fast. However, I am very gracious for every single dollar that gets donated, and every penny helps. I am raising money for the Alzheimer’s Association Florida Gulf Coast Chapter. I chose this organization because I know and admire the people that work there, and it is very important to me that the money raised makes a difference in the lives of people who live in my community, right here in Pinellas County. Please help me make a difference, and thank you for making my birthday very special.
