BENEFITING: NASHVILLE HUMANE ASSOCIATION
Any of you who have known Allyson even a little bit know how attached she was to Barksdale, and how much "Teeny" meant to her. Both Allyson and Barksdale were lucky enough to find each other as Barksdale was abandoned on the streets of Memphis. For 11 years they proceeded to rescue each other, and recently having to put down Barksdale due to her spreading cancer has been an incredibly sad adjustment for Allyson. Nevertheless, anyone who ever spent time with the two of them together knows what a great life and home she made for Barksdale.
In Barksdale's memory, I'm hoping to insure that more adult dogs who have been abandoned have that same opportunity for a loving home. We are looking to sponsor a kennel at the Nashville Humane Association that will provide shelter, food, medicine and care for older dogs. These dogs generally don't have as much luck getting adopted immediately the way puppies do, and often have more health problems as well.
I'll be presenting this to Allyson in December, with the names of everyone who contributed. So don't tell her yet! Allyson is so lucky to have so many people who care about her, and it would mean the world to her to permanently commemorate Barksdale's life by helping other dogs.
All of the money raised will go directly to the Nashville Humane Association, and is tax deductible. I'm also happy to come pick up any check or cash donations, if that's easier for anyone. Thank you so much for anything that you can spare to help. You all deserve a treat!
