Memorial Day Flood Damage
Organized by: Chris Powell
The Memorial Day flood of 2015 was one of the worst floods in Texas history. The fast rising waters destroyed a dam that was holding back the waters on a 1 acre pond in Round Rock. This pond houses many different wildlife, including herons, perch, bass, turtles, and much more. The water level has dropped more than three feet and is becoming stagnant. Many families have spent the afternoon at the pond fishing (catch and release) and enjoying a bit of nature in the middle of one of the fastest growing areas in the country. I am working to restore the area to the pre-flood condition, including new seating areas, a new fishing pier, and aerating fountains.
