BENEFITING: FRIENDS OF HUNTINGTON STATION LATIN QUARTER
Huntington suffered a devistating loss Friday, April 25th when Kevin Mendez passed away. Kevin, a Huntington High School class of 2012 alumni and blue devil wrestler took his life after a battle with depression. Please find the touching words from his brother Luis...
At 4:23 on April 25 I lost my brother. The date has been burned into my mind. 4:23. 4/25/14. We lost him. There were five of us. Now there are only four. Kevin was everything to us. He was the center of my family. Everything revolved around him, especially in recent years. My youngest brother idolized him. My mother doted on him and my father would drop everything to help him when he was in trouble. He was my right hand man. We were going to do great things together. He was eager to live and try everything he could. And he was loved. We all loved him so much. 4:23. 4/25/14. Now we will never be whole again. Not for as long we live. My family has had a vital piece irreparably ripped out. The pain will get better over time but, we won’t ever get over this. I’ll never get over this. All I can do is try to keep his memory alive. The only thing I can do is tell the world he was loved. Writing has always been my refuge. It was always the one thing I knew for sure I could do right. Now it just hurts. Please. The only reason I’m doing this is on behalf of my family. It’s the only thing we can do. So please, if you could spare anything, please help us raise money for Kevin’s services. He was loved. He was loved so much. But now this is the only thing we can do. It’s not enough. Nothing will ever be enough, but this is all we can do.
