BENEFITING: MENDED LITTLE HEARTS INC
I am running for Richard’s heart.
On July 7, 2008 my life changed forever when my nephew Richard was born. He was born prematurely and spent the first months of his life in the NICU at Boston Children’s Hospital. My sister Marci and her husband Rich spent their days back and forth to Boston, after two surgeries and a lot of love and hope Richard made his way home. I think back to that time and how my family came together in support and love for this little person who, what we didn’t know at the time, would start something magical.
Combined my sister and I have had a total of five boys ranging from 9 years to 8 months in age – they are “the Bros” and Richard is the leader. I say he is the leader because not only is he the oldest but he has the ability to brighten your day with just a smile or a simple “How was your night?”, he is kind, and compassionate, curious, and able. All qualities that I am so thankful my sons get to look up to on a daily basis.
In April of 2016, Richard had heart surgery, a valve replacement and spent some time in the cardiac unit of Boston Children’s Hospital. The surgery was a success and he is doing very well. Again, showing us that regardless of what you go through, you move forward.
Richard has changed my life so significantly that I will never be able to express the love I have for him in words, so I will try and do that through action. Together we can help others who will go through heart surgery, by calming their nerves, ease their thoughts, and help to prepare them for their stay.
On October 22, 2017 I will run 13.1 miles and together with Mended Little Hearts of Boston I will be raising money and supplies to fund their charity and supply items to fill the “Bravery Bags” they give to heart patients at BCH. If you would like to join me in my efforts, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or click "Fundraise for this Campaign".
Thank you so much.
With Love, Carolyn Moss
