THE STORY:

SportsCode Performance Analysis Software by Sportstec: This is the premier video editing and performance analysis software used by professional and collegiate basketball teams on the market. Utilizing this tool will dramatically improve our ability to analyze and evaluate our team’s on-court performance. It will revolutionize the way that we prepare our team for our upcoming opponents and enhance the way we present statistical and video based information to our team.

With SportsCode, we will be able to capture and code video live for immediate or future review. It will allow us to break video of the game down into possessions, and code each possession with the action that takes place.  After a game is coded, the user can retrieve specific video clips from a database. For example, we could pull up all the possessions where Garrett Nevels made a three-point field goal from the left corner. We can also edit and sort these clips into a movie organizer tool, add text and drawings to the video, and add title slides, to create professional video scouting movies.

SportsCode is used by 29 out of 30 NBA teams. Almost 80% of the NCAA Division One “Power 5” teams use the software. Every men’s and women’s basketball team in the BigWest currently uses Sportstec software with the exception of one, the University of Hawaii Men’s basketball team. In 2012, the University of Hawaii women’s team made a similar financial commitment to purchase SportsCode. Having used the software at USC, Coach Beeman knew the value it would bring to her program.

This is also the same software that sports performance analyst Jamie Smith used during his time in the NBA with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics, and Assistant Coach Adam Jacobsen and Graduate Manager Derek Dasai used at Pacific University. Our staff is already highly skilled with the software, and ready to unlock it’s potential in enhancing the team’s on-court performance.

The total cost of the software with a three-year payment plan is $38,188.41. We are using Coaches Choice to raise money for the first biannual payment of $6,364.74. We have a plan to fund the other payments, however additional donations are also welcome.
