B.O.S.S. (Bringing Out Self-Sufficiency) is a college and career preparation program for 9th-12th graders from low-income households. The program aims to "stop the drop" and ensure every participant graduates with the means to attend college.
Contributions to the StandUp4Youth campaign will help Mentor2Youth fully fund both locations of the B.O.S.S. program (Ypsilanti and Lincoln) for the 2016-2017 year. By tripling the number of students in the program, we can ensure that more students than ever before have the tools to succeed in college and beyond.
Your donation will make a positive impact on the life of a young person in Southeast Michigan. When we invest in youth, we invest in the future -- of our schools, our businesses, our community, and our world.
More than 75% of our families' highest level of education is a high school diploma or GED. When students are never exposed to the benefits of college or the means to pursue professional career fields, their motivation to perform well in high school quickly diminishes.
In addition to weekly academic support, students in the B.O.S.S. program go on college tours, participate in job shadowing at local businesses, and receive help finding internship opportunities. Our program gives students a chance to see college and the career they aspire to as a goal they can achieve, not a pipe dream or wishful thinking.
