We are Pei and Julia, two members of Sanctuary for Families' Mentors Program and we are proud to be a part of Sanctuary's TD 5-Boro Bike Tour Charity Team again this year! We had raised almost $8000 in 2016, and our goal is to raise $10k this year in 2017.
We’re collaborating with fellow members of the Mentors Program to raise funds in support Sanctuary's life-saving work with survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking and related forms of gender violence, all while training for the 40-mile ride through Manhattan.
Sanctuary for Families' Mentors Program was created in 1995 to provide past clients the opportunity to become powerful advocates for ending gender violence. We build on our own experiences and understanding in the hopes of increasing community awareness about Sanctuary's issues.
As Mentors, we educate general public about domestic violence; provide Support for existing clients; advocate for changes in the field of domestic violence while forming linkages with other agencies; and empower and provide encouragement to other survivors. Sanctuary made a difference in our lives, and as Mentors we continue that work every day.
By riding and fundraising, we’re excited to take our dedication to Sanctuary and the Mentors program even further.
