Mike grew up in the city of Albany, New York. As a youth, Mike found himself unfocused and getting into trouble both inside of and outside of school. Ultimately, he outgrew this pattern after losing one of his close friends to an untimely death and he was able to turn his life around. He worked throughout high school and college to fund his higher education, attending a university that even his own guidance counselor considered a reach. Mike graduated college, law school and then a masters in law program and currently practices law as a successful tax attorney in Manhattan. As Mike begins each day in his Brooklyn apartment, he reflects on the positive impact his choices have had on himself and others. Mike is a dedicated and hard worker and lives by the motto never make the same mistake twice. Mike is rational, balanced and driven both inside and outside the ring. Mike became interested in boxing when a friend found himself training for the Haymakers of Hope Boxing Event and has since become dedicated to the sport. While Mike does not have any specific heroes, he has immense respect for police officers, fire fighters and military personnel, as every day they place their own lives at risk in order to provide us with safety and security. Mike has been a dedicated volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City for nearly ten years and has mentored his current little brother, whom he considers family, since February 2012. Mike is excited to participate in the Boxgiving Slug Feast on November 15, 2014 and even more excited to raise money for a charity like Give a Kid a Dream, whose mission he strongly believes in.
