THE STORY:

Founded in 1996, the Meridian Interns Program (MIP) is a paid internship for low-income teens from all over San Francisco in which Artist Instructors integrate art-making workshops with training in job-related skills. We are approaching our summer programming and could use help with the supplies we offer in our studio space!

Each year, our Artist Instructors explore various themes with our 35 youth per year, creating exciting art in the form of sculpture, woodcuts, paintings, installation, video, and more. For many youth, this is the first time they are brought into a world of fine arts and are challenged day to day to explore art through multiple mediums.

This is where you come in. We provide art supplies in the form of anything from colored pencils to acrylic paint. We also provide snacks for our youth each day but this requires a refrigerator--that of which we do not have anymore. We are asking for enough money to provide a small refrigerator for our studio, as well as basic supplies like paints, paper, bookmaking supplies, printing ink, sketchbooks, and a few cameras for photography. Lastly, MIP needs a projector for our studio--making it easy to watch art films, go over digital animations, film productions, and more.

Meridian Interns Program thrives and would not exist without the generous donations from individuals like you. The youth who work within Meridian Gallery are truly a part of the Meridian family from not only the beginning but as the youth grow into their next phases of life. Please share with friends, family, and the community, to help us reach our goal and truly make this a year (and years!) to remember for our instructors, staff, and most of all our youth.
