BENEFITING: Pecometh Camp & Retreat Ministries
EVENT DATE: Dec 28, 2013
Last December I spent a week in the beautiful land of Leon Nicaragua. I met people who live huts made of plastic on what was once a dump. I met a long retired circus singer who serenaded us with her still beautiful voice. I met children who kept the small little snack treats we brought for them to share with their siblings at home. I learned to mix concrete by hand and how to make rebar structures to contain the concrete. I took cold showers but this seemed little sacrifice for being in a place where I saw the love of God in the smiles of these people with literally nothing. I returned a different person. One who realizes how blessed I am to have been born in the United States and given the opportunitites I take for granted.
I decided before I left that I wanted to bring my two daughters, MaryKent and Camryn, back this year. I want them to see what life is like outside of our 1st world luxuries. I want them to have a deeper appreciation for what we have been given. I want them to become even more compassionate and have a better understanding of what poverty means.
The financial component is daunting but I have faith that like last year - God will provide the money we need. We will go and do good work. We will be good stewards of the money we raise and use it well to love on these beautiful people.
Would you consider helping us? Give what you can...Pray for us...Share the journey with us. We are grateful for your support!
(Pecometh is supporting the trip by handling our funds, so when you donate to this project the funds will go to Pecometh, but earmarked to be used for the trip.)
