EVENT DATE: Oct 07, 2012
Mileage Tracker: 18
October, the month that the marathon is held in Chicago, is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Our colleague, Charlie Stoops, has run in the marathon for the last couple of years to raise awareness about DV. His slogan is “Everyone Can Do One Thing to End Domestic Violence.” We will run 26.2 miles in hopes of raising awareness, money, and resources to end domestic violence. It seems like an impossible feat, but is very little compared to the challenges that survivors face every day.
All proceeds from the Metrothoners Campaign will support service at the Midway office of Metropolitan Family Services for survivors of domestic violence and their children.
For more than 154 years Metropolitan Family Services has been a voice for families. With compassionate counsel and services for families struggling to overcome incredible challenges, Metropolitan makes a difference in their lives and provides hope for their future. From early childhood programs to elder care services, every family member is encouraged to work together to realize their amazing strength. www.metrofamily.org
