Organized by: Damaris Contreras
CEO/ Founder of Voices of the Silent, Damaris Contreras moved to an orphanage in Mexico called la Tribu de Jesus. It had been on her heart to do a structural curriculum for this orphanage that is in much need of it becoming a thriving community for the kids. Due to the lack of workers and labors to help in this orphanage it has suffered in the area of structure and becoming self-sufficient. Our goal is to see this orphanage as a thriving community especially for the kids. To see that we started educational programs to ensure theses kids have a future and can be caught up to their academic level. Most of the kids have never been in school or have fallen behind due to poverty stricken circumstances. We recently have started ESL classes as Damaris teachs at their private Christian school, academic tutoring, and making sure each child is enrolled in school and meeting academic levels. As of now we have 85% of children enrolled as last year only about 35% were attending school. EDUCATE- we have given them the oppurtunity to get educated through enrollment in school and programs to help them meet thier educational academic levels. -Education (assuring and emphasizing that every child is enrolled educational institute/ program and assistance needed to reach their academic potential, transportation is provide). EMPOWER- there is a huge need to empower the workers who take care of the orphans who work tiressly to meet their needs. As they have no salary we are looking for indeviduls to sponsor them. TRANSFORM- as Damaris has already moved and volunteered her skills and talents to make the orpahange a better place we are looking for others to do the the same. REBUILD- We are comeing beside La Tribu orpahange to help them become more sucssesful. -Setting goals to become more sucessful as an orginization. - Structual curriculim that will help this orphanage flourish. -Life skills (personal hygiene, communication, conflict resolution, discipline, reward system, setting goals, developing/ establish a daily routine). -Community support/ services (Establishing a network with locals and their business and with local and international churches). Having communication with volunteer groups/ contacts about needs.
