EVENT: Marine Corps Marathon 2015
As a citizen of the United States of America, I tend to take some things for granted. One of those things is the freedom that our nation has ensured its people since the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776. Since that time, the military has protected our independence, borders, and rights on both domestic and foreign soils.
It's become cliche to say "Freedom isn't free." Though that statement is still true.
Ultimately, men and women, on a daily basis, are fighting to protect our freedoms, and fight the forces that seek to bring America to a lower level. To this point, that has never occurred. Our armed forces have always been able to maintain, and generally improve, our wellbeing within our own borders. Sacrifices are also made, on a daily basis, by those men and women keeping us well. The least that we can do is honor those individuals of our military that have made the ultimate sacrifice for us.
The following is taken from https://www.massfallenheroes.org/about/:
"We memorialize our fallen by creating a permanent public tribute and provide advocacy services for local Veterans and families of the fallen serving in the Global War on Terrorism since 2001."
Help me honor these men and women as I run my sixteenth marathon, the 2015 Marine Corps Marathon.
