I am honored, thrilled and extremely humbled to have been chosen to be a team member with Run For Cover for the 2015 Boston Marathon. The Melanoma Foundation of New England and their mission are close to my heart, as both my Grandmother and Father have battled this terrible disease. In April of 2014, my Grandmother, Anna Lindgren, lost her fight. I am running in memory of her and in celebration of my father's continuous recovery from both Melanoma and throat cancer.
I will also be running in honor of Karen Coveney. We have been matched through MFNE's runner/patient match program, and I could not be more honored. Karen has Melanoma and is currently undergoing treatment. Her and her husband of 21 years, Mike, have three children Brendan, Kathryn and Collin. Karen was an avid runner in her youth and passed the legacy along to her oldest son and daughter who run cross country and track. With a positive attitude, Karen continues to make progress everyday. Please help support Karen and her courageous fight!
I am so grateful for your support of my fundraising and of an organziation as hardworking and influential as MFNE. Thank you.
The Melanoma Foundation of New England's mission is to reduce the incidents of melanoma in the New England region through education, prevention and support. MFNE hosts a range of educational programs to spread awareness. These programs include Your Skin Is In, a program teaching high school and college students the dangers of tanning, and The Skinny on Skin, which teaches beauty professionals to recognize potential melanomas on the head, neck and scalp of their clients.
Team Running for Cover is running the 2015 Boston Marathon to raise funds to support MFNE's mission. All funds raised will be used to fund and expand these educational programs throughout the New England Area.
