THE STORY:

I started running or I should say walking around thanksgiving 2012. My goal was to lose weight. Around April 2014 I ran my first 5K. Late spring 2013 decided to run a half marathon though my longest training run was 5 miles. I was surprised of my strength during that race where I was able to run 10 miles and walked the last 3 to the finish line. I loved my first medal. By that I had lost around a lot of weight. I decided to run a full marathon. It was the Honolulu marathon Dec 2013. It was warm day and I did a lot of run/walk periods. I struggled a lot however finished. Running saved my life! It opened my eyes into new horizons in addition to enjoying the journey and cherish every moment rather than thinking only about the finish line. June 2014 I ran my second marathon, it was magical. I learned more about training endurance and importance of mental toughness. I have finished so far 10 full marathons, 19 half marathons and few 5k races. In the last few years I decided to run for the Boston marathon charity teams. Nothing is better than supporting a great cause and getting to run an awesome race. As an oncologist I interact and take care of cancer patient on daily basis. During my oncology fellowship training I treated many melanoma patients, and one patient with metastatic melanoma inspired me to run a marathon to support cancer research. She died before my attempt. This time I am running for her and all other patients. Supporting education, prevention and research in the cancer field and melanoma specifically is of extreme importance .Melanoma is the most serious form of skin cancer and the sixth most common cancer in North America. Please consider supporting the Melanoma Foundation of New England. Take a step and support a good cause, this will get us close to win the battle with this aggressive cancer. I will be honored to run the Boston marathon 2017 as member of team “Running for Cover” of the Melanoma Foundation of New England, raise awareness about the importance of protecting your skin and funds to support MFNE's mission. Thank you for your help!
