It is hard to believe it was only a year ago that Boston faced one of it's darkest hours as terrorists attacked the Boston Marathon. The streets of the city I love, which should have been filled with cheers of joy, instead being filled with hate and sadness still feels so fresh. What I remember more clearly, however, and what I continue to experience in this city, is the defiant solidarity and caring that defines Boston Strong. This year's marathon will be the truest signal of our resilience, our inability to be kept down, our willingness to stand up to and stare down even the most sinister in this world.
To support the Boston Strong tradition, I will be running in the 2014 Boston Marathon. I am thrilled to be a part of the Mass General Hospital for Children Pediatric Hematology and Oncology team, and am honored to run in support of such an incredible and life changing organization.
MGHfC's Pediatric Hematologists and Oncologists are tireless caregivers, who make a difference in the lives of Bostonians every day with their world class treatment. Dedicated to providing deeply personal care, MGHfC's Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology works with children of all ages who suffer from some of the most painful and terrifying diseases and disorders of the blood. From the stressful time of diagnosis to providing long term care and follow up, these diverse specialists partner with parents to create and execute state of the art treatment plans based on the individual needs of each child and family. As leaders in their field, their innovative approach and research is saving lives every day. Please make sure they are available to every child that needs them today, tomorrow, and for years to come.
