BENEFITING: MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL HOSPITAL
ORGANIZER: MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL HOSPITAL
EVENT: Boston Marathon 2014
EVENT DATE: Apr 21, 2014
I have once again joined the “Mass General Marathon Team Fighting Kids’ Cancer" and will be running the Boston Marathon to raise money to support pediatric cancer research at MGH.
The funds raised will go toward children fighting cancer at Mass General Hospital. The Pediatric Oncology Wing at MGH helps children with cancer through research, medicine and care. As part of my commitment to be on this team, I have promised to raise $5,000 for these children.
My first two Boston Marathons I had the privilege to run for Samantha and Wendy two teenage patients at MGH who were fighting Leukemia. My third and fourth marathon I had the privilege to run in honor of a brave young girl named Olivia fighting a brain tumor. Samantha, Wendy, Olivia and their families have cheered along with my family at mile 20 (heartbreak hill) each year. To run in honor of these brave children has been such an inspiration to me; their support and courage continuously motivate me. This year I will be running for Olivia, Sam, Wendy and all of the young patients at MGH and as always seeing their faces at mile 20 will get me through the day.
I feel fortunate to have this opportunity, not only because it is a personal goal, but I will be able to reach this goal while supporting young children fighting to live disease free.
I won’t be able to do this alone and hope for your support. Your donation will help give these kids a fighting chance to beat this terrible disease. I hope you will consider supporting me in my marathon run by contributing to this very special program.
Whatever amount you choose, your dollars will be tremendously appreciated and help give a critically ill child a second chance at life. I'll be thinking of all of you April 21st on my run from Hopkinton to Boston!
