BENEFITING: MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL HOSPITAL
ORGANIZER: MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL HOSPITAL
EVENT: 2017 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 17, 2017
Hi friends + family!
I am greatly honored to be joining the Mass General Pediatric Cancer Marathon team again this year. As most of you know by now, I was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer, at the age of 3 and treated at MGH. Fortunately, due to early detection, I was cured after a few surgeries and have been cancer free ever since. There aren’t words to describe how grateful I am for the opportunity to live a healthy life. It is not lost on me that if it weren’t for the team of real life superheros at MGH, I wouldn't be training for my 6th marathon. My history with this disease has helped shape my outlook on life in a positive way. I want to help raise money again this year so that other children will be granted the same life-saving care that I received almost 29 years ago. Each child affected by this horrible disease deserves the opportunity to grow up and become the healthy & strong person they are meant to become.
Each year I am blown away by your generosity and this year I humbly ask for your support again in helping me achieve my fundraising goal. Each dollar you donate goes directly to the Mass General Hospital for Children Cancer Center. Among other things, the funds will help support clinical and laboratory research, supportive care programs, art and music therapy, support groups, and child life specialists who help patients cope with illness and treatment.
Please consider supporting this incredibly deserving cause. The kids inspire us to run 26.2 miles; we need to inspire them in return, so they can continue to fight this disease.
Thanks in advance for your generosity and I hope to see you along the course on Marathon Monday!
