BENEFITING: SAVE A PET OF NIAGARA COUNTY INC
10 years ago I adopted my first dog from Save-A-Pet of Niagara County in Western New York. Ivan was my soul mate, until I rescued Miah a few months later and realized soul mates come in pairs. I was naive and unaware of how much time and energy was spent by the volunteers and foster parents of this organization, and though I was thankful for my dogs, never did my part to give back. 3 years ago, Miah slipped on black ice and was soon diagnosed with Systemic Lupus - a fatal disease which takes over 80% of canine lives within one year of diagnosis. Much to everyone's surprise (and years of acupuncture and various holistic approaches) Miah overcame those statistics and gave me 3 extra years to realize how to love and care for a rescue dog with special needs. Miah lost her long battle with this dreadful disease on July 3rd, 2015. My heart is broken, but it is my sincere hope that my little rescue dog continues to light up the world for a good cause. Organizations like Save-A-Pet of Niagara County are in desperate need of volunteers and have little money with which to work. Countless hours are spent rescuing, fostering, feeding, advertising, and surveying potential adoptions. It is my sincere hope that a donation can be made to help this organization as a sign of my deep gratitude and appreciation of not only giving me MY best friends, but helping other people find theirs as well. If you've ever loved a dog, you realize the mark they leave on your soul and the absence that is felt when they're gone. By donating to Save-A-Pet, Miah will live on in spirit and her love will continue to be felt. Thank you!!
