This is round 2 for me in Fighters4Life. I’m fighting to raise money for Gleason’s Give a Kid a Dream (GAKAD) and for Support & Training to Overcome Parkinson’s Disease (stop-PD). My fund-raising fight is to honor my Uncle Tommy who, as a teacher and soccer coach, helped kids achieve their dreams and who today is fighting the debilitating progression of Parkinson’s disease.
I grew up in New Jersey, where I always wanted to learn to box; but I didn’t because I was afraid I’d fail at it. Fortunately, a few years ago, as a middle-aged father, I conquered that fear and took-up boxing. It was the outlet I needed to balance my demanding career as a Human Resources executive. Boxing gave me the intense physical training for my heart and it gave me the punching and sparring to release my inner bad boy.
Through boxing, I have become friends with fighters from many different walks of life. Through boxing, I have KO’d my fears. And most importantly, through boxing I have found ways to use my body to help others. One day each week I volunteer with the fighters from stop-PD. These are men and women with Parkinson’s who put on the gloves, hit the heavy bags, and fight back against their disease. Please donate today to help them in their fight and to give the Gleason’s kids a dream!
