BENEFITING: Jack H Marston II Melanoma Fund
EVENT DATE: Oct 09, 2016
Back in 2006, I decided to run my first race, the Chicago Marathon, in order to lose some weight, raise money to fight the deadly skin disease Melanoma and to share the entire experience with some good friends and family members. The charity I chose was the Jack H. Marston II Melanoma Fund, an organization that has disbursed over $300000 to Melanoma Cancer Research in the past 12 years.
Well, since then, I've had 2 successful Basal Skin Cancer surgeries myself, was fortunate to run the 2008 Boston Marathon for this charity, have completed 16 half marathons all over the US and have kept the weight off.
I'd like to ask you to support me and this cause with your tax deductible donation. I raised over $5000 combined for the 2006 Chicago and the 2008 Boston Marathons, via donations of $5 up to $500, so any amount is appreciated. If you prefer to donate by check, make it payable to Jack's Marathon Team Fund and place a note in with your check indicating "sponsoring Michael Albrecht 2016 Chicago Marathon". Then mail your check to: Jack’s Fund, ATTN Jack's Marathon Team, PO Box 436 Glen Ellyn IL 60137
Thank you very much for your support and I will leave you with some Melanoma facts:
- Melanoma is the most underfunded of all cancers by federal and private agencies.
- Early detection makes melanoma highly curable, but it is the least screened cancer.
- People find their own melanoma more frequently than doctors do and melanoma detection is not a training requirement for most medical disciplines.
