EVENT: 2017 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 17, 2017
I ran my very first marathon in 1997. Twenty years later I'm still running marathons, and in 2017, I will be running my first Boston Marathon! Not only will I have the opportunity to be running in the world's most famous marathon, I will have the opportunity to run the marathon in support of an amazing organization. I learned about The Michael Lisnow Respite Center through a Hopkinton resident and friend who has been involved with the Boston Marathon in various capacities. After reading Michael's story, I was reminded of my own Godchild, who was born two months premature. Fortunatley, there were no complications with his birth. Though he barely weighed two pounds at birth and could not go home with his parents for two months after his birth, he did not suffer any serious or long term medical, physical or mental setbacks. He and his family, and all those of us who loved him, were blessed. I now realize how fortunate we were, and also realize that not all families are as fortunate. It's wonderful to know that there is an organization like The Michael Lisnow Respite Center for children and adults with disabilities, who need help and support. I am honored to be a part of this team.
The Michael Lisnow Respite Center provides support for children and adults with disabilities and their families. There are several programs which include an Adult Day Program, Weekend Respite, After School Care, Day Care (birth - 3yrs), Employment Support for Individuals with Disabilities and Residential Placements.
I am honored to be raising money for The Michael Lisnow Respite Center in support of the amazing things the Respite Center does for so many families.
I thank you for your support!

The Michael's Miracle Marathon Team is a Boston Marathon team to benefit The Michael Lisnow Respite Center. The Respite Center is an official B.A.A. charity that provides services for children and adults with disabilities. We have several programs which include our Adult Day Program, Weekend Respite, After School Care, Day Care (birth - 3yrs), Employment Support for Individuals with Disabilities and Residential Placements.
As we begin 2017 and our 18th Boston Marathon season, our goal is to continue to increase respite and support services for families trying to survive the challenges of raising a child with disabilities. Last year the Respite Center raised just over $600,000 with a team of 72 runners. These funds made it possible to grant scholarships and also provide over 40,000 hours of service to families in need.
