I first heard about Haymakers for Hope when I saw a friend of mine participate in 2012. I knew immediately that this was a very special event and something I needed to be part of. Almost everyone has been affected by cancer in some way. For me, especially in the past year, this terrible disease has hit very close to home, so I jumped at the opportunity to participate in Haymakers and try, in some small way, to join the fight.
Haymakers For Hope is a recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has teamed up with Dana Farber and the Jimmy Fund to raise money for cancer research.
I have been training since mid-January, 4-5 days a week, with Ed and all of the amazing trainers at Boston Boxing in Brighton to prepare for three, two minute rounds. The training regiment has been incredibly challenging, both mentally and physically.
If you or someone you know has been affected by cancer (or you just want to see me get punched in the face), please come to event and show your support for me and all of the fighters as I step into the ring on May 16th at the House of Blues in Boston. I have pledged to raise a minimum of $2,500, but with your support I hope to greatly exceed that figure. Your donation, however large or small, will be another positive step in the fight against cancer. I’ll see you on fight night!
