Last year I set a goal to run in my first and very last marathon. It is something I always wanted to do. I decided to also raise money for the Jimmy “V” Foundation, “Don’t give up… Don’t ever give up”. The purpose of the foundation is to raise money for cancer research. Far too many of my family members and close friends have been struck by cancer. I ended up raising over $1,600.
Unfortunately Hurricane Sandy struck and the NYC Marathon, for all the right reasons, was canceled. The good news is every dollar I raised still went to the Jimmy “V” Foundation.
Early this year, I decided to lace up and give it a try again. After all, the mantra for the foundation I raised money for was “Don’t give up… Don’t ever give up.
Since cancer continues to effect the lives of people I know, I also decided it is worth raising money for such a great cause.
If you are able to donate for the first time or even again, every dime counts.
