Mickitas Liver Shunt Surgery
Organized by: Gerri Richardson
Hello, I'm Gerri and my fur baby's name is Mickita. She is a rescue who was about to be put down due to being ill, she has a liver shunt which means her liver doesn't function the way it should. She takes medication and has special prescription food which helps but she still suffers. She needs an operation to correct the situation so her liver can function and she can live a more normal doggie life. Between all of her vet visits and medications thousands have already been spent and I cannot afford the procedure she needs. Anything will help, whether its $1 or $100 it will be greatly appreciated. Mickita and I will be forever greatful!
"A liver shunt is a blood vessel that carries blood around the liver instead of through it. In some animals a liver shunt is a birth defect ("congenital portosystemic shunt). In others, multiple small shunts ("acquired portosystemic shunts") form because of severe liver disease such as cirrhosis."
