BENEFITING: MID CENTRAL COMMUNITY ACTION
Imagine…. The life you expected to be living has gone terribly wrong. Love and joy have been replaced by pain and fear. You feel alone. You feel as if you have nowhere to turn and nowhere to go. You look into the eyes of your children and see pain and fear too. You are trapped and isolated. What can you do?
At Mid Central Community Action we provide those who experience domestic violence with what they need most…hope. Hope that they can move from being victims to being survivors to being thrivers. Hope that they and their children can have a better life. MCCA’s comprehensive array of Countering Domestic Violence services is there as a lifeline to those in need. Neville House is our 24-hour emergency shelter that provides safety and support for adults and children who are victims of domestic violence. Advocates are available on our 24-hour Hotline to provide support to victims. Our program provides free and confidential counseling to victims of domestic violence. Our Therapist works with men and women, and also facilitates our education groups. Our Youth Services Advocate works to support and educate both residential and non-residential children on issues of domestic violence, as well as providing domestic violence prevention education to the local schools.
Our 24-hour hotline receives over 3000 calls annually. That’s an average of over 8 calls per day! We serve over 700 survivors of domestic violence each year, 40% of whom are children UNDER THE AGE OF 5 YEARS OLD!
This story is about more than just services and statistics. It’s about lives changed. And we need YOU to come along side and be part of that change. Somewhere in our community there is someone suffering through the pain of domestic violence. Maybe you work with them. Or see them at your child’s soccer game. They might be in front of you in line at the store. They feel as if no one cares. That no one hears their cry for help. They ask themselves, “Will no one stand up with me?”
By supporting MCCA and The Purple Purse Challenge you are answering their call. You are saying, “Yes! I’ll Stand Up With You!”
