ORGANIZER: MID CENTRAL COMMUNITY ACTION
EVENT: Purple Purse Challenge
EVENT DATE: Sep 28, 2016
Hello everyone and thank you for viewing my campaign! If you haven't heard of the Purple Pure Challenge, you are in for an awesome goal! Here is a run down of the challenge:
Now in its fifth year, Allstate Foundation Purple Purse is a public awareness and fundraising campaign aimed at creating long-term safety and security for domestic violence survivors through financial empowerment. While most people think only of physical abuse when they consider domestic violence, financial abuse happens in 98 percent of all cases of domestic violence - it is an invisible weapon that keeps victims trapped. PurplePurse.com is a place where people can find resources and tips on how to make it easier to talk about domestic violence. They can also contribute at PurplePurse.com to organizations that provide life-changing financial empowerment services to support survivors.
The organization that raises the most during the Challenge will get a $100,000 donation to their cause. Second place gets $75,000, third gets $50,000, fourth gets $25,000 and fifth place gets a $20,000 donation.
So how do you fit in? By supporting my challenge and donating whatever you can. As most of you know, domestic violence hits very close to home with me. I lost my mother in an act of domestic violence in 2002. That event has changed my life forever. Thankfully, I was able to find the light out of that darkness. I have worked for Mid Central Community Action's Countering Domestic Violence Program for 6 years now! It is my passion and I cannot beging to explain the joy and peace I receive from helping women that are going through what my mother did. Please, if you are able to donate even a tiny bit, I will be forever grateful. Let's keep our program running and the doors to our emergency shelter open!!!
