MIGRAINE AWARENESS MONTH DAY 28
June 28, 2017
BENEFITING: Migraine Research Foundation Inc.
Migraine is known as an "invisible" disease, meaning one can be in the throes of an attack and look just FINE.
The invisibility can create a misunderstanding about the "severity" of migraine disease. It is disabling and reaches every part of your body that is controlled by your brain. (So ya, that's your whole body)
Migraine has been linked to several psychiatric disorders, such as Major Depression, Anxiety and Bipolar Disorder. Migraine are also associated, "self harm" and "suicidal ideation". The chronic pain from migraines can sometimes lead to catastrophic thinking and poor coping, which elevates the increased risk of "suicide".
Chances are you are close to someone who experiences migraine. If you are, I would encourage you to learn more about Migraine Disease. Ask questions and most importantly be sure to "listen" without judgment to what they experience.
