Mike was born and raised in Mount Vernon in the Bronx. He experienced a very rough childhood with his father leaving at a very young age, and living with a tough older brother. By the time he was in High School, the only things he enjoyed mostly revolved around the gym, lifting weights, etc. He was introduced to Boxing at a YMCA in Yonkers by some of the elders. It was there that he met a professional trainer, Steve Acunto, and participated in several un-sanctioned club fights.
Mike dropped out of High School and worked as a Butcher for about 10 years before he got his GED. The importance of an education became a priority and Mike enrolled in College, earning first an Associates Degree in Radiology Technology, and then a B.S. in Business & Marketing. His interest in sports and training led to an ISSA Group Fitness Certification and Mike worked as a Kick-Boxing Instructor for CKO.
Currently working for a VA Hospital as an MRI & Cat Scan Technician, Mike is Married with three grown kids. Coming from such a rough start in life, he is very excited about raising funds for the Fighters4Life charities that benefit at-risk youth, as well as Veterans, who he works with now on a daily basis. This will be Mike’s first “official” amateur fight, after all these years!
