Mike Reimann Suicide Prevention Center
Organized by: Lexi Maranto
This past Monday 9/12/2016, my cousin Michael committed suicide. He was beloved of everyone he knew, and no one knows what happened. Everyone close to him said it came out of nowhere. I remember thinking this is something that happens to other families, not mine. But then it happened. I know there are others who feel similarly, that they wished they could've known or done something. The hard truth is, not many suicides come out about it beforehand. Why?
I want to raise money to help those who are too sick or scared to reach out for help, those who can't necessarily afford it, or don't want their name to be slandered because they reached out for help when they were down. I want to create a safe place for hurting humans, a place where we really are confidential, where there really is no judgement, and where there can be true healing. I want to create a center for the prevention of suicide where we would have teams of therapists as well as spa personnel so that the patients we housed would be truly relaxed, chefs so that food would be nutritious and capable of uplifting the mood of the patients. They would be able to learn about how to prevent the feelings at the root of the problem, and be taught this by the teams of therapists as well as each other. Essentially I want to create an entirely free of charge to patients resort for people with suicidal tendencies. A safe place. And I want to dedicate this safe place to my cousin, who was always my safe place when I was in need. Rest in peace, Mike. It is my hope that your lost life will not be in vain. Join me and donate for a chance to save lives.
