BENEFITING: FAMILY LEGACY MISSIONS INTERNATIONAL
EVENT: 2013 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 15, 2013
As many of you know I was diagnosed with cancer in the spring of 2011. After surgery in October 2011, the doctors are convinced I am and will remain cancer free. My longtime friend Kyle Clark was not as fortunate. After an unbelievably courageous 10 year battle with brain cancer, Kyle passed away in 2009. Kyle left his wife Ley and three children, McKinley, Carpenter and Campbell, who are the most positive and inspiring people I know.
After a 2010 mission trip to Zambia, Kyle’s oldest daughter McKinley realized she could save 12 orphans by raising money to build a home for them in Kyle’s memory. The orphanage will be built in Family Legacy’s Tree of Life Village. Her goal is to name the home “Kyle’s House” and to provide shelter, love and education to homeless children. McKinley wanted to turn this tragedy into a life changing experience for the orphans of Zambia. She is committed to raising $100,000 to build a home for these orphans in honor of her father.
On April 15, 2013, I am going to pursue a lifelong goal to run in the Boston Marathon. I have received an invitational entry into the race. As part of accepting that invitation, I have committed to raising funds for Kyle's House and assisting McKinley in achieving her lofty objective.
Please join me in making this significant event in my life even more meaningful by donating to Kyle's House to change the lives of children who need our help and honor my friend and his amazing family.
