My nephew Michael (Mikey) Grant endured several unfortunate tragedies this past June. He first lost his mother to her courageous four year battle with cancer and then lost his grandfather just days later. Still grieving, Mikey suffered the loss of five of his front teeth and a fractured jaw - all in the span of one week.
At a gathering after his mother’s funeral, Mikey was punched in the mouth by an intoxicated guest, knocking out his front teeth and severely damaging his jaw. Since June, Mikey has undergone a series of painful and costly procedures to begin repairing the damage. The first one repaired some bone fragments, but further surgeries are needed to screw pieces of his jaw back into place before his teeth can be repaired or replaced – procedures costing tens of thousands of dollars.
During the last month of his mother’s struggle with cancer, Mikey took time off work to help care for her. When she and his grandfather passed away, he missed even more work time to attend both funerals. He currently has no insurance and no income due to being off work for his Mom’s illness and his recovery.
Mikey just turned twenty-one and is in his sophomore year of college pursuing an engineering degree. My nephew is a caring, intelligent and determined young man who is trying to get through school and make a better life for himself. Please support Mikey by donating to this recovery fund. We all want to see Mikey get his smile back.
