MilCasas- Building Homes for Families in Need
Organized by: Amanda Talley
At the end of May, my family and I will be traveling to Sacatepéquez(outside of Antigua), Guatemala to build and sponsor a home through the MilCasas Project. All donations are SOLELY for the matierals of the house. We're providing our own transportation, food, and lodging for the trip.
The MilCasas Project targets families that are stuck in life due to circumstance and situation - families living in homes with cornstalk walls and dirt floors - replacing that structure with a dry, securable and cleanable place to live. Included in this home is a water filtration system, solar lighting, a high efficiency wood burning stove and a set of bunk beds.
"Guatemala is still reeling from the results of 40 years of civil war. Doubt and distrust has left many generationally without hope. Day to day living is a struggle. And many ask - "What is our future?" 1,000 homes in comparison to the need is a drop in the bucket. But for these recipients, to these communities 1,000 homes will change their future. Changing dirt floors and cornstalk walls into a place that is dry, clean and secure is a simple act of love and kindness that seeds hope that tomorrow can be more than today."

IN ADDITION: If we're able to surpass our $3,000 goal, we'll be donating the rest of the funds to a children's mission program also associated with the MilCasa's Project that provides meals to many of the children whose families are a part of the MilCasa project. Each week, the project brings in four to five hundred children and provides each child with a highly nutrional meal.
Donations will be collected daily from Crowdrise, and each donor will receive a receipt via email immediately after donating! If you would like to avoid the small processing fee taken out of your generous donation, you can also mail checks to:
